Leeds City Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Library Manager to join their team.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading and managing customer-facing services in a demanding community environment.

You will be responsible for developing and delivering innovative, creative, and cutting-edge library services that meet the needs of diverse communities across Leeds.

As a member of the senior management team, you will contribute to the effective delivery of library provision across the city, ensuring high-quality services and resources are available to all users.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing cohesive, high-performing staff teams
  • Developing and implementing service plans that align with corporate priorities and the wellbeing of citizens
  • Managing budgets and financial targets while maximising income generation through fundraising, grant applications, and commercial opportunities
  • Ensuring performance standards and targets are met, including customer satisfaction and staff development

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A degree or postgraduate degree in Library and Information Science or a relevant field, or extensive experience in public library management at a senior level
  • Significant experience of managing customer-facing services in a demanding community environment
  • Substantial experience of developing and managing cohesive, high-performing staff teams
  • Experience of planning and managing projects, as well as budget management
  • Ability to motivate, persuade, and influence in a wide range of situations

We offer a competitive salary, ranging from £37,335.96 to £40,221.00 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including annual leave entitlement, membership of the West Yorkshire Pension Fund, flexible working arrangements, and a range of staff benefits.
