Job Overview

Leeds City Council is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Recreation Assistant - Pool. About the Role

As a Recreation Assistant - Pool, you will be responsible for administering First Aid as necessary, carrying out general cleaning duties, erecting, dismantling, and storing equipment, supervising children's activities and parties, and promoting and supporting Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer First Aid as necessary, and report accidents, injuries, and incidents as per procedures.
  • Carry out general cleaning duties, as per the centres cleaning schedules to the agreed quality standards, involving the use of manual and mechanical equipment, whilst complying with safe working practices.
  • Supervise a range of children's activities and parties, ensuring compliance to current child protection policies and procedures.
  • Ensure promotion and support of Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety.
  • Undertake any other duties, as directed by the supervisor, which may be reasonably required of you, commensurate with your grade and level of responsibility.

Progression Criteria to A2:

  • To supervise swimming pool activities, identifying potential hazards and taking appropriate action in line with the centres Standard Operating Procedures, Emergency Action Plans, and National Pool Lifeguard guidelines.
  • Maintain National Pool Lifeguard qualification, by attending training sessions as per National Pool Lifeguard requirements and Leeds City council corporate guidelines.

  • Experience of working with customers.
  • Experience of life guarding duties / tasks.

About You

We are looking for a candidate who is able to communicate effectively, work independently, and possess a strong sense of teamwork. The ideal candidate will have experience in working with customers, particularly in a leisure centre environment.
