The Horniman Museum and Gardens, a unique London attraction, brings together world cultures and the natural world for everyone to enjoy. Its internationally important collections of anthropology and musical instruments, as well as a popular natural history gallery and Aquarium, are housed within its 16 acres of beautiful Gardens.

Within these Gardens lies a tropical Butterfly House and offers stunning views across London. It is here that the role of an experienced Security Officer is crucial in maintaining the safety and security of the Museum Collections and Estate. This includes ensuring the safety of staff and visitors using the museum facilities.

This key position entails:

  1. Patrolling museum grounds
  2. Monitoring systems in place
  3. Providing a reception facility for visitors and staff
  4. Maintaining accurate written records
  5. Compiling comprehensive reports

A successful candidate will have prior experience working with both staff and the public in a security-focused role, preferably within a museum or visitor attraction setting. Excellent communication skills are essential, enabling seamless interaction with diverse groups of staff over radio and phone.

We estimate this role to pay around £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. As a Nationalmuseums employee, you can expect a competitive salary package and a range of benefits designed to support your career growth and overall well-being.
