Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Museum Professional to join our team at DiverseJobsMatter. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to work closely with one of our Media Heads and contribute to the growth and development of our Sound collection.

About the Role

This is a part-time position that allows you to balance your work responsibilities with studies towards a Professional Apprenticeship in Curating Master's degree course at Teesside University. You will be allocated dedicated time for classes and study, enabling you to develop your skills and knowledge while working within the museum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply a cohesive understanding of oral history to all aspects of activity and ensure its effective integration into our work.
  • Support the delivery of engaging content for galleries, exhibitions, and public program-related outputs, collaborating closely with colleagues to achieve best practice standards.
  • Work collaboratively as a team member, consulting with colleagues and sharing knowledge and information to drive collective success.
  • Facilitate and support access to our collection, expertise, and skills for both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
  • Contribute to the effective stewardship and care of the collection, ensuring its preservation and maintenance for future generations.
  • Actively promote and implement strategies for widening access, inclusion, and diversity within the scope of projects.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies to enhance efficient and effective working practices.
  • Familiarize yourself with the museum's health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements
  • Professional experience in a related field, preferably within a museum or cultural institution.
  • Strong understanding of oral history principles and their application in curatorial work.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant field, such as museum studies, art history, or a related subject.
Benefits
