The Department for Culture, Media & Sport seeks talented individuals to join the Board of Trustees at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

As a Trustee, you will play a crucial role in shaping the museum's strategy, ensuring its collections are cared for, and promoting the public's enjoyment and understanding of art, design, and performance.

  • Key responsibilities:
  • To care for, preserve, and add to the museum's collections
  • To secure exhibition of the collections to the public
  • To secure access to the collections for study and research

Essential criteria:

  • An understanding of and enthusiasm for the V&A's objectives and work
  • The ability to contribute at Board level regarding current and future initiatives
  • Excellent communication and ambassadorial skills

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience within the creative industries sector
  • Experience of collaborative engagement with makers, designers, community, and learning partners
  • An understanding of the changing role of museums in the 21st century
