Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Youth Offending Team Officer to join our well-established Youth Justice Service at Cumberland Council.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering effective youth justice services to children, young people, and their families, aimed at preventing offending and re-offending.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out detailed assessments and work with young people to develop plans
  • Participate in a duty rota undertaking core tasks of the YJS, including work at Court and in Police Stations
  • Prepare pre-sentence and other reports for the Courts

Requirements

We are looking for an experienced, skilled, and dedicated person to join our team. The successful candidate will have experience of working with and engaging young people and families with complex needs within the Criminal Justice System.

Experience of managing challenging behaviour and working with complex issues is essential.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and requires an enhanced DBS check with a Children's Barred List check.
