Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Support Specialist to join our team at North Lakes Children's Services. This role provides an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people in care.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position is approximately £18,642.94 per annum pro rata (£26,100.12 FTE), with potential earnings up to £21,900.22 with sleep-in shifts. Additionally, you will receive:

  • A sleep-in allowance of £62.64 per night
  • Up to 6 weeks' holiday per year

Key Responsibilities

As a Youth Support Specialist, your primary duties will include:

  1. Supporting daily routines of the young people, including personal hygiene, meals, and activities
  2. Assisting with room cleans and developing life skills
  3. Attending medical appointments and supporting the implementation of activity plans
  4. Completing day sheets, working with the young people on their targets, and managing paperwork
  5. Liaising with families and building relationships to ensure special dates are noted and marked
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Flexibility in your availability for sleep-in nights and shift work
  • An understanding of the issues faced by young people in care
  • Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People's Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a small team
  • Willingness to learn and undertake a DBS check at enhanced level
