Job Overview

This role offers a rewarding opportunity to join our dedicated team as a Registered Manager in one of our Ofsted-rated GOOD children's homes in Birmingham.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Comprehensive Care Plans: Create tailored plans addressing each young person’s care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic, and health needs.
  • Lead a Great Team: Collaborate with recruitment teams to bring in suitable staff members, complete company induction, and personal development plans to retain a strong team and ensure familiar faces for the young people.
  • Foster Consultation: Establish systems for young people to consult about their care.
  • Allocate Key Workers: Assign Key Workers to each young person to implement their care plan.
  • Maintain High Standards: Establish and monitor high-quality care standards in line with quality standards and the Home's Statement of Purpose.
  • Handle Complaints and Concerns: Take responsibility for addressing any complaints or child protection concerns.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work in partnership with parents, carers, and other professionals to promote the welfare of young people.
  • Participate in Meetings: Attend and contribute to care planning and review meetings as appropriate.

Essential Requirements and Experience:


We require:

  • Relevant experience: At least 2 years in a position related to residential care of children, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role within the last 5 years.
  • Qualifications: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to start within 6 months of employment.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of The Quality Standards, SCCIF, childcare legislation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Skills: Efficient in; planning, organizing, budget control, resource allocation, and team leadership.
  • Communication: Confidence in effective spoken and written communication.
  • Understanding Trauma: Knowledge of the needs of children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, including managing challenging behaviour.
  • Driving License: Full UK required.
