About the Role

Heathlands, a purpose-built centre for adults with profound and complex learning disabilities and Autism, is seeking an experienced Autism Care Specialist to join our team. As a Support Worker Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals to live a full and active life based on their individual plans, wishes, and aspirations.

You will be responsible for ensuring that service users' care and support needs are met in a safe and supportive environment. Your compassion, empathy, and positive behaviour support approaches will make a significant difference in the lives of our service users.

Our team is committed to delivering high-quality care and support that meets the individual needs of our service users. As an Autism Care Specialist, you will be part of this dedicated team, working collaboratively with families, carers, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our service users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing personal care and support to individuals with profound and complex learning disabilities and Autism.
  • Assisting with medical needs, including administering medication, as required.
  • Supporting individuals with distressed and challenging behaviour.
  • Encouraging participation in activities such as arts and crafts, drama, music, gardening, supported volunteering, work opportunities, and visits to places of interest.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with service users, families, carers, and other professionals.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Enhanced DBS check.
  • Compassion, empathy, and a positive approach to supporting individuals with diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • A commitment to ongoing learning and development.
