About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Specialist to join our team at North Halifax Primary Care Network.

The successful candidate will work autonomously and be accountable for their own professional actions, working with patients who have a wide range of mental health problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive assessments, make diagnoses, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Complete outcome measures as evidence-based practice for interventions.
  • Make referrals to secondary care, community services, or other relevant stakeholders.
  • Prescribe medication (if qualified) with support from GPs/ACPs and Clinical Pharmacists.
Demand Management

The Mental Health Specialist will contribute to evolving services, managing increasing demand on general practice, and providing a safe and equitable service for all patients.

Communication
  • Communicate effectively with PCN team members and external organizations to promote patient care.
  • Participate in regular performance reviews, maintaining records of personal and professional development.
  • Manage workload, caseload, and resources effectively.
  • Actively engage in clinical governance issues.
Collaborative Working Relationships

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Ability to work well as part of a team and lead in specific areas.
  • Recognition of other colleagues' roles in patient care and liaison with stakeholders as needed.
  • Use of effective communication skills to build sustainable relationships.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required

The post holder will have sufficient experience in mental health within a multidisciplinary primary care setting, possessing:

  • Clinical leadership skills.
  • Change management abilities to support patients in lifestyle changes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Therapeutic and clinical knowledge, understanding evidence-based healthcare principles.
  • Awareness of general practices and primary care contexts.
Benefits and Salary

We offer a competitive salary between £35,000 - £45,000, dependent on experience, plus 29 days holiday per year and an NHS pension. Other benefits include a company laptop, phone, and healthcare plan after probation.
