About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join our team in Derbyshire Adult CMHTs. As a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing individual and group clinical work, promoting psychological ideas, and offering advice and consultation to colleagues and multi-disciplinary practitioners.
Main Duties
Your role will involve providing specialist psychological assessments, formulating and implementing plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of service users, and implementing a range of highly specialised psychological interventions. You will also be responsible for exercising autonomous professional responsibility within the context of multidisciplinary team working, for the assessment, treatment, and discharge of service users.
Key Responsibilities
- Provision of specialist psychological assessments of service users referred based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources.
- Formulating and implementing plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a service users psychological difficulties.
- Implementing a range of highly specialised psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families, and groups.
- Evaluating and making decisions about treatment options considering both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family, or group.
- Exercising autonomous professional responsibility within the context of multidisciplinary team working, for the assessment, treatment, and discharge of service users.
Person Specification
Essential
- Good Honours degree in Psychology (2:1 or above). Eligibility for Graduate membership of BPS.
- Post-graduate doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or those in lateral transfer) as accredited by the BPS.
- Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist by the HCPC.
- Eligible for Chartered status of BPS.
- Post qualification training in supervision of other psychologists.
- Post qualification specialist training/experience of assessment/intervention for people with complex mental health problems.
Desirable
- Post qualification training in a therapy model.
- Chartered status with BPS.

- Experience of working with clients across a variety of settings.
- Commitment to developing specialist area of expertise relevant to the post through significant training, personal study, etc.

- Expertise and interest in specialist area relevant to adult mental health.

- Very high level of interpersonal and communication skills enabling written and oral presentation and receipt of complex and sensitive information, to facilitate acceptance, and relate effectively in an emotive and hostile environment.
