Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician to oversee the medicines management service and lead a team of clinical pharmacy technicians and assistants. This role is crucial in ensuring the delivery of high-quality clinical services across multiple hospital sites.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Direct the development and enhancement of the medicines management pharmacy technician and assistant services.
  2. Formulate and execute policies, procedures, and operational practices to ensure the safe and efficient functioning of the pharmacy services.
  3. Collaborate with Care Group Pharmacists to align medicines management activities with the needs of various wards and care groups.
  4. Manage and mentor pharmacy technicians and assistants, ensuring they receive appropriate training and support.
  5. Oversee quality assurance processes for the pharmacy services, including the establishment and monitoring of quality metrics.
  6. Actively participate in the pharmacy technician management group, promoting best practices and initiatives.
  7. Identify opportunities for service development within clinical areas and collaborate with senior pharmacists to implement improvements.
  8. Monitor and report on clinical pharmacy service activities, including training and development for team members.
  9. Facilitate effective communication within the pharmacy department and across the organization regarding developments in medicines management.
  10. Contribute to the development and review of broader policies impacting the pharmacy department and ensure compliance.
Qualifications
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Completion of a General Pharmaceutical Council-approved integrated competency and knowledge-based qualification.
  • Level 3 qualification in management or equivalent senior management experience.
Experience and Skills
  • Extensive post-registration experience in hospital pharmacy practice with verified competencies.
  • Proven experience in team management.
  • Background in strategic planning and service enhancement.
  • Experience in leading research and audit initiatives.
