Head of Patient Safety and Governance

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Leader to join our team as Head of Patient Safety and Governance. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our efforts in promoting patient safety and clinical governance across the Trust.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing effective strategies and operational policies to promote patient safety and innovation in Northumbria Healthcare. They will also provide leadership and direction, providing expert guidance and support across our Business Units, collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to identify risks and share learnings.
The post holder will be accountable for legal responsibilities in delivering statutory patient safety duties for Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in line with national requirements and regulatory bodies. They will also lead on a Trust-wide approach to patient safety incidents, including the development and implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree and evidence of progressive career development, with a successful track record in change management. They will also have a strong understanding of patient safety and clinical governance, with the ability to provide expert guidance and support to colleagues and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement effective strategies and operational policies to promote patient safety and innovation in Northumbria Healthcare.
- Provide leadership and direction, providing expert guidance and support across our Business Units.
- Lead on a Trust-wide approach to patient safety incidents, including the development and implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).
- Be accountable for legal responsibilities in delivering statutory patient safety duties for Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
- Monitor compliance and evaluate impact by scrutinising process, whilst ensuring business units are responsive and accountable to patients, the public, and wider stakeholders.
- Educated to Master's Level.
- Evidence of progressive career development.
