About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Patient Safety Investigation Lead to join our forward-thinking Patient Safety Team at the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the implementation of the National Patient Safety Incident Response Framework, ensuring compliance and effective incident management.
  • Drive rapid learning and improvement by working closely with service lines to share lessons from incidents and promote a culture of safety.
  • Generate detailed reports and present findings at key governance and safety forums, influencing healthcare outcomes and contributing to safer care for patients.
  • Collaborate with the Learning Response Leads to monitor incidents, support lead investigators, and ensure the highest standards of care are upheld.

Requirements
  • Significant experience in human factors/PSIRF, with a degree-level education in a relevant subject.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development at a postgraduate level, with teaching/mentorship qualifications or demonstrable experience.
  • Accredited Leadership programme or willingness to work towards, with experience in a patient safety role within a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent communication, presentational, training, and report writing skills, with the ability to influence, persuade, and motivate others.
  • Knowledge of the Health Service and current national initiatives, particularly in relation to Clinical Governance and Patient Safety.
