About the Role

NHS Blood and Transplant is seeking a skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as a Healthcare Assistant Blood Donation. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our blood donation centers and providing exceptional care to our donors.

Main Responsibilities

  • Participate in training to learn how to insert needles into donors' arms to achieve blood donation units.
  • Provide care and support to donors throughout their donation journey, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Accurately record and maintain documentation from donors, including medical history and consent forms.
  • Build relationships with donors to encourage repeat donations and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Ensure the safe handling and management of blood products, needles, and equipment.

Requirements

  • Good standard of numeracy and literacy.
  • Willingness to undertake development and training to upskill, including completion of the Skills for Health Care Certificate.
  • Experience of dealing with the public and delivering quality customer service.
  • Ability to learn new technology skills and undergo digital training.
