Woodgrange Medical Practice is a well-structured and effective healthcare facility, currently serving a patient population of 16,000 and expanding. Our practice is situated in a spacious, repurposed banking facility, which has undergone multiple enhancements to create a modern and comfortable clinical setting. We foster a strong culture of education and professional development, welcoming you into our extensive Primary Care team, which includes 13 physicians, specialists in Dermatology and surgery, 3 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 2 Practice Nurses, 3 Healthcare Assistants, a Diabetic Nurse Specialist, 3 Pharmacists, and a diverse patient base. You will quickly become an integral part of our team.

Every member of our clinical and administrative staff is encouraged to pursue professional growth. Our physicians are supported in their specializations, with interests spanning Substance Misuse, Mental Health, Dermatology, Minor Surgery, Pediatrics, and Women's Health.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide personal medical services as expected from a General Practitioner and maintain clear and contemporaneous consultation records to established standards.

- Conduct home visits as necessary.

- Participate in Practice meetings and contribute to discussions.

- Assist with additional services as required.

- Collaborate with external agencies as needed.

- Adhere to practice protocols for Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), prescribing incentive schemes, and other enhanced services as directed by relevant authorities.

- Participate in extended hours on a rotational basis.

- Evaluate personal performance and take responsibility for actions, whether independently or under supervision.

- Conduct telephone consultations, video consultations, and triage calls.

- Manage pathology results, hospital communications, and correspondence.

- Prepare reports for Benefit Agencies, Social Services, and Insurance, as applicable, in coordination with the Salaried Partner.

- Engage in Practice audits and quality improvement initiatives.

- Generate and issue computer-based acute and repeat prescriptions as required, adhering to the accepted prescribing formulary.

- Draft referral letters for patients seen.

- Provide coverage for colleagues during their leave.

- Update and summarize patient records based on received correspondence.

- Mentor and supervise students, GP Registrars, Nurses, and other placement doctors as needed.

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical spaces.

- Demonstrate punctuality and effectively manage time, workload, and resources.

- Present oneself in a professional manner and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and patients.

- Contribute to team effectiveness by reflecting on personal and team activities and suggesting improvements for performance and service expansion.

- Prepare for and participate in Care Quality Commission (CQC) visits.

- Undertake additional duties as required.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications

  • Eligibility to practice in General Practice within the NHS.
  • Experience in GP education.
  • Familiarity with appraisal processes in practice or similar settings.
  • Commitment to complete necessary training for appraisal and stay updated with GP Appraisal, relicensing, and revalidation developments.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated ongoing personal and professional development.
  • A facilitative approach to teamwork.
  • Capacity to address challenging topics with sensitivity and diplomacy.
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and active listening.
  • Awareness of diverse communication needs and responsiveness to them.
  • Proficiency in GP-based software, Microsoft Word, and email.
