About You and This Role

Liferay is seeking a Sales Engineer to assist in crafting demonstrations, solution proposals, commercial strategies, positioning documents, and collateral specifically targeting opportunities in the UK. Our Sales Engineers possess a unique blend of technical expertise and a strong focus on business solutions.

We operate as a distributed and collaborative Sales Engineering team, where we believe in the seamless integration of customer service with technical sales, engineering with storytelling, and closing opportunities with consulting. While we work independently, we actively support our Sales Teams and fellow Sales Engineers in every possible way. Our commitment to ongoing training and enablement is designed to enhance subject matter expertise and improve the sales experience.

Key Objectives
  • Create and deliver engaging, well-branded, solution-oriented product demonstrations that captivate customers and prospects.
  • Assist in the development of proposals, RFIs/RFPs, tender bids, commercial strategies, and positioning documents.
  • Engage technically with prospects, customers, and partners on Liferay projects.
  • Define implementation architectures while developing deep expertise in Liferay technologies and a broad understanding of application and service construction using our platform.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in areas relevant to customer applications and services, such as Customer Experience and Web Content Management.
  • Educate customers of all sizes on Liferay's value proposition and engage in in-depth architectural discussions to ensure successful solution deployments.
  • Participate in roadshows, conferences, and various forms of Liferay advocacy.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to devise and implement a sales strategy aimed at exceeding revenue targets through the adoption of Liferay Cloud solutions.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in designing, implementing, or consulting on web-based applications and/or Digital Experience Platforms/CMS.
  • Proficient in presenting to diverse audiences, including executives, IT management, and developers.
  • Experience in gathering business requirements, creating technical specifications, architecture diagrams, and overseeing development, testing, and deployment processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn swiftly.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to confidently lead technical and business discussions.
  • Strong written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional prioritization, organization, and time management skills; capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time for customer and prospect engagements.
  • A technical degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Liferay technologies or similar solutions.
  • Familiarity with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular) and portal/portlet development.
  • Experience in technical projects utilizing Java EE.
  • Knowledge of software development tools and methodologies.
  • Experience in migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.
  • Industry expertise in a specific domain, vertical, or platform such as DXP or Cloud.
  • An advanced degree in computer science, MIS, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge or experience with AI and/or Low Code tools.
