Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Customs Manager to join our team at Lidl GB. As a key member of our import operations team, you will be responsible for managing a team of specialists, overseeing customs classification and audit processes, and advising on trade regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of customs specialists, including delegation and workload management.
  • Customs Classification and Audit: Oversee the customs classification and audit process to ensure goods are imported and processed correctly according to trade regulations.
  • Training and Coaching: Provide training and coaching to members of the customs classification and audit team.
  • Advisory Role: Advise on customs classification procedures and post-clearance audits outcomes.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze customs classification and audit data to identify trends, areas of concern, and improvement opportunities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and advise on customs classification and audit-related issues.
Requirements
  • Customs Knowledge: Strong knowledge and experience in customs classification, including HS codes, GIRs, and import controls.
  • Import Data: Detailed knowledge and experience working with customs import data and post-clearance audits.
  • Qualifications: Level 4+ Diploma in International Trade or other applicable customs and trade certifications and diploma.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Analytical Skills: Analytical mind-set with the ability to analyze large data sets and build dashboards.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced user of Microsoft Excel.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to use their own initiative.
  • Attention to Detail: Highly focused and accurate with an uncompromising eye for detail.
