Opportunity Overview
We are thrilled to announce a pivotal role for a Community Engagement and Patient Advocacy Coordinator to enhance our Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) initiatives at the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

As we build on our recent achievements, our goal is to integrate PPI as a fundamental aspect of our operations. We aim to connect with a broader audience in innovative ways, ensuring that our activities are shaped by the insights of patients and the public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Management: Overseeing daily functions, upholding PPI standards, managing the Heart Voices patient network, and delivering administrative assistance.
  • PPI Initiative Implementation: Facilitating PPI efforts across diverse sectors (Research, Policy and Public Affairs, Information and Support), guiding team members through PPI protocols, and organizing events.
  • Success Measurement: Assessing, documenting, and communicating our PPI endeavors, managing workloads, and promoting PPI and peer support throughout the BHF.

Work Arrangement
This position is a fixed-term contract for 18 months, offering a blended work model that combines remote work with office attendance. At BHF, we value collaboration, and our team members on blended contracts are expected to spend some time in the office weekly, depending on their role and required activities.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of patient and public involvement frameworks and be skilled in Microsoft Office applications. A project management qualification and familiarity with the UK health charity landscape are advantageous.

You should have experience in cultivating sustainable relationships with patients, the public, and colleagues, alongside a history of managing projects or events and maintaining administrative workflows. Strong organizational skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and adaptability to shifting priorities are essential.

A commitment to meaningful patient and public involvement, the ability to support team members, and the courage to express concerns are crucial. Excellent interpersonal skills, the capacity to convey complex information clearly, and a focus on equality, diversity, and personal growth are also important.
