Position Overview:
The Head of Advocacy and Communications at Foxglove is a pivotal role within our organization, dedicated to ensuring that technology is utilized fairly and justly.

As a litigation and campaigning nonprofit, we strive to hold both governments and major tech corporations accountable for their actions. Our mission is to investigate, litigate, and campaign against the misuse of technology that undermines public trust and fairness.

In an era where tech giants wield unprecedented power, often surpassing that of governments, our work is more crucial than ever. We aim to challenge the algorithms and mass data systems that can perpetuate inequality and harm the most vulnerable members of society.

Foxglove is committed to restoring the rule of law in the face of technological overreach, advocating for transparency and fairness in the use of data and algorithms by public bodies.

Key Responsibilities:
As the Head of Advocacy and Communications, you will:
1. **Develop and Execute Advocacy Strategies:**
- Lead the formulation and implementation of comprehensive advocacy strategies that amplify our mission and objectives.
- Identify and seize high-level legal, campaign, and political opportunities for intervention.
2. **Engage with Stakeholders:**
- Build and maintain robust relationships with UK government officials, EU lawmakers, regulators, and other key decision-makers to drive political change.
- Collaborate with partners to develop proactive policy positions and engage in meaningful dialogues with policymakers.
3. **Media Management:**
- Oversee proactive and reactive media strategies to ensure effective communication of our initiatives.
- Work closely with the communications team to explore innovative content formats such as documentaries, podcasts, and feature films that align with our advocacy goals.
4. **Networking and Relationship Building:**
- Foster partnerships with other organizations, unions, NGOs, and legal entities to strengthen our advocacy efforts.
- Regularly review relevant media, NGO, and academic reports to identify potential advocacy opportunities.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior leadership or executive role focused on advocacy or strategic communications.
- Exceptional networking and presentation skills.
- Professional experience in areas relevant to Foxglove's mission, including antitrust issues, labor rights, and the ethical use of technology.
