London, Greater London, United Kingdom Rethink Mental Illness Full time

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate advocate to join our Camden & Islington Advocacy Team as a Single Discipline Triage Paid Relevant Person's Representative (paid RPR) Advocate.

What is Advocacy?

Advocacy is about having someone by your side, and on your side, when you want to be more involved in decisions about your care, treatment, and living arrangements.

They can help you decide what you want and then communicate it to people.

About Our Service

Rethink Advocacy provides a range of specialist advocacy services to adults across a range of disciplines.

We offer statutory (instructed or non-instructed) and non-statutory advocacy support in secure units, hospitals, care settings, or in the community, working with a range of health and social care partners.

Your Responsibilities

You will have an awareness and understanding of the various legal frameworks which the people we support may be subject to and will be able to confidently communicate on the least restrictive option which will meet the person's needs.

Representation will be provided in such a way that will always promote inclusion, empowerment, and will work towards self-advocacy whenever this is possible.

You will, alongside the management team, make decisions on how the person must be prioritised for allocation to a permanent RPR and whether immediate actions are required.

Working with Us

You will work across Camden and Islington and on occasion, further afield and therefore will need to have the ability to travel between multiple client appointment locations across the day, as well as travel to team meetings and training sessions as required.

As a field worker, you will be based at home and will manage your own calendar, planning in client visits effectively as well as all administrative tasks.

You will manage your own caseload, using a person-led approach, closing cases efficiently when the work has concluded and identifying when the person you are supporting has additional advocacy needs, ensuring an appropriate referral is raised, signposting is considered, and any unmet needs are recorded.

About Our Values

We draw on the expertise, unique perspectives, and lived experience of our people – regardless of who they are or their background – to help us become an inclusive and anti-racist employer, campaigning organisation, and service provider that reflect the diverse communities we support as a mental health charity.

Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Diversity is important to us, and we appreciate difference through inclusiveness and belonging. It gives us a deeper understanding of the world, our society, and the diverse communities we're working with.

By including everyone, we draw on the unique experiences and expertise of our people to help shape and enrich our workplace and improve our services.
