Body & Soul Charity is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to fill the position of Head of Casework and Advocacy Services. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting our members who have experienced trauma and are in need of practical assistance and ongoing human connection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective strategies for delivering member support and casework services, ensuring that our members receive the highest level of care and support.
- Oversee referrals into member support and casework services, ensuring that our members receive timely and appropriate support.
- Supervise a team of volunteers to deliver member support, casework, and advocacy services, providing guidance and support to ensure that our members receive the best possible outcomes.
- Conduct initial assessments and casework assessments to understand member needs and develop action plans in accordance with these needs.
- Supervise and follow up on volunteer casework across housing, financial support, welfare, and benefits, health, and statutory services.
- Hold a caseload of up to high needs members in need of member support, casework, and advocacy.
Requirements:
- Education to degree or postgraduate level.
- Experience or training in working with people with mental health needs or those who have experienced trauma.
- Good working knowledge of legal and welfare rights and entitlements, including immigration, housing, and homelessness, welfare benefits, and health.
- Knowledge of services, both statutory and voluntary, which provide support to our community members.
- Ability to develop service strategies adapted to emerging needs.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, including report writing and verbal presentations/delivering training.
- Ability to communicate with a community from a wide variety of nationalities, cultures, and backgrounds.
- Ability to manage own time and workload, and flexibly respond to and prioritize a range of competing demands.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high quality of work.
