Political Engagement and Advocacy Coordinator
2 months ago
Join Save the Children UK as a Political Engagement and Advocacy Coordinator, where you will play a vital role in supporting our Politics & Public Affairs team.
About Us
At Save the Children UK, we are dedicated to ensuring every child has a bright future. Our work spans the UK and beyond, striving to provide children with a healthy start, educational opportunities, and protection from harm. In times of crisis, we are among the first to respond and the last to leave, ensuring that children's needs are prioritized and their voices are amplified. Our efforts yield lasting impacts for millions of children, particularly those who are most in need.
About the Role
As the Political Engagement and Advocacy Coordinator, you will be essential in executing impactful change strategies alongside the Politics & Public Affairs team. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in advocacy and influence work, allowing you to cultivate relationships with key political figures.
Your Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting in the monitoring, analysis, and dissemination of UK political intelligence to inform our advocacy efforts, including the creation of our weekly Political Round-Up.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of relationships with political stakeholders in Westminster, enhancing Save the Children's visibility and understanding of our stances on critical issues to bolster our capacity for effecting change for children both in the UK and globally.
- Creating content for regular written briefings directed at MPs, Peers, MEPs, government officials, and other influential decision-makers regarding key policies and campaigns.
- Collaborating with colleagues to distill and convey complex data (scientific, technical, economic) and policy concepts in a manner suitable for political audiences.
- Occasionally representing Save the Children at external meetings and events to support our advocacy and profile enhancement, advancing our priorities.
About You
To thrive in this role, you should possess:
- A solid understanding of and interest in the UK political landscape, gained through volunteer work with a political party, academic pursuits, or relevant professional experience.
- A keen curiosity about the mechanisms of change, particularly the significance of public affairs in advocacy.
- The ability to analyze, summarize, and effectively communicate complex information in writing to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated excellence in verbal communication, presentation, and persuasive skills.
- Experience in organizing events.
- A commitment to the vision, mission, and values of Save the Children.
What We Offer:
Working with a charitable organization provides a profound sense of purpose and fulfillment in aiding others. We recognize the importance of supporting our employees to foster a healthy and balanced work environment.
- We prioritize flexibility, inclusivity, collaboration, and overall well-being, both in and out of the workplace.
- We offer a comprehensive range of benefits designed to reward your dedication, motivate you, and inspire you to enhance the lives of children every day.
The team often collaborates in the London office, and while it is beneficial for the successful candidate to be able to do so, this is flexible and can be discussed during the interview process.
