The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Global Patient Engagement Lead to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a critical part in shaping and executing Vertex's global patient engagement strategy. You will be responsible for developing and implementing programs that foster meaningful connections with patients, caregivers, and advocacy groups across various therapeutic areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive global patient engagement strategy aligned with Vertex's overall business objectives.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key patient advocacy organizations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to enhance patient understanding and access to Vertex therapies.
  • Develop and deliver engaging patient-centric programs and initiatives that address the needs and priorities of patients living with serious diseases.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams (e.g., medical affairs, market access, communications) to ensure alignment and integration of patient engagement efforts across all business units.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of patient engagement programs, using data and insights to continuously improve strategies and outcomes.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging trends in patient engagement, ensuring Vertex remains at the forefront of this evolving field.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in healthcare, with a focus on patient engagement, medical affairs, market access, public health policy, or government relations.
  • Demonstrated success in managing patient engagement programs across diverse geographies and therapeutic areas.
  • Deep understanding of EFPIA and relevant country codes of practice to ensure all activities are compliant.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Spanish fluency is highly desirable.

  • Strategic planning, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or non-profit sector within relevant therapeutic areas.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to influence at all levels of an organization.
  • A passion for patients, science, and public health.

Flex Designation: Hybrid-Eligible Or On-Site Eligible

In this Hybrid-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as:

  • Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week;
  • On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
