Assistant Supplies Officer Job Description

Adecco is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant Supplies Officer to join our team at North Wales Police.

This is a Monday to Friday position, working 9am to 5pm, with a competitive hourly rate of £14.40.

The role requires manual handling, so applicants must be physically fit and able to lift and move equipment.

Due to police criteria, applicants must have lived in the UK for at least the last 3 years to be considered for this post.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and administer the Stores IT systems
  • Assist the Supplies Manager with general clerical duties, including raising purchase orders and progressing orders
  • Perform stock checks and investigate discrepancies
  • Collate information from the section or computer system as required
  • Supply and fit uniform to staff
  • Liaise with the Shared Service Centre Manager on routine order/invoice matters
  • Progress and chase purchase orders
  • Check invoices against orders and clear for payment
  • Respond to new Force initiatives on technology, Health and Safety, and customer service
  • Monitor stock levels and amend accordingly
  • Arrange destruction/disposal of returned clothing items or stock written off
  • Organize collection of goods being returned to suppliers
  • Operate a good housekeeping policy and maintain a tidy work area
  • Prepare and input data into the computer, ensuring accuracy
  • Assist in training new staff on the computer system
  • Receive customers, visitors, drivers, and telephone enquiries
  • Undertake general stores maintenance, including stock relocation and stock checking procedures
  • Monitor stock levels and bring shortages/surpluses to the attention of the Supplies Manager
  • Advise customers on uniform maintenance
Requirements:
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Purchasing or related subject, or equivalent amount of proven relevant experience
  • Minimum of English and Maths at GCSE level or equivalent
  • Previous experience of working in a similar environment to stores/supplies
  • Basic IT skills, keyboard skills, and knowledge of processing orders/invoices
  • Fit to carry out duties and tasks, including lifting and handling equipment
  • Ability to work under own supervision and initiative
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues, supervisors, managers, and other personnel as appropriate
