Role Overview

As part of the Vodafone UK Networks team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our network capabilities, connecting millions of individuals and businesses nationwide. We are seeking a Release Train Engineer (RTE) to guide and facilitate the successful delivery of Agile Release Trains (ARTs) within our Digital Product portfolio, as we adopt and implement the SAFe framework. This role is pivotal in establishing standards for Agile delivery excellence in alignment with SAFe principles. You will serve as a prominent leader in our transition to SAFe, focusing on providing essential support to teams, ARTs, and Solution Trains, fostering self-organization and self-management.

Key Duties:
  • Lead and facilitate planning and delivery events critical to the ART's success.
  • Continuously enhance and optimize ART processes, assisting teams in delivering value alongside Product Managers and System Engineers.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, effectively communicating and addressing impediments to ART delivery, while managing risks and driving continuous improvements.
  • Collaborate with Product and Digital Engineering teams to refine the Digital delivery process and value streams, leading initiatives for end-to-end delivery improvements, including DevOps.
  • Monitor and report on key performance metrics (e.g., burn-down and burn-up charts), owning the KPIs for the specified ART and managing risks and issues.
  • Oversee the budget associated with the ART, supporting Lean budgeting processes to ensure value delivery within Program Increments.
  • Champion the establishment of best practices for Agile Delivery, fostering a culture of continuous learning and psychological safety, while collaborating with communities of practice to develop Agile training and development programs.
Qualifications:

Proven experience in leading ARTs, with a comprehensive understanding of establishing, managing, and delivering high-performing teams.

Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to simplify and convey complex issues effectively.

A servant leader who can coach, support, and enable value delivery through a culture of continuous improvement and customer-focused outcomes.

Extensive experience with SAFe tools and methodologies (e.g., PI planning, Agile delivery methods, DevOps, JIRA/Azure DevOps/Confluence).

Inclusivity Commitment

At Vodafone, we are passionate about fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive, regardless of their background. If you are enthusiastic about this role but feel that your experience does not align perfectly with every requirement, we encourage you to apply, as you may be the right fit for this or another position.

We prioritize the well-being of our employees, offering a competitive remuneration and bonus package, up to 28 days of annual leave, in addition to public holidays and paid time off for charitable activities. Our extensive benefits package can be tailored to meet your needs and those of your family, including employee discounts, retail vouchers, pension plans, and share schemes. We are committed to supporting your career development with top-tier learning resources and leading parental leave policies.
