**Job Title:** Research Grants Manager - Strategic Partnership

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Grants Manager to join our team at Prospectus. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing our research grants portfolio, working closely with our trustees, and coordinating grant activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grant Portfolio Management: Manage our active research grants portfolio, including monitoring grant progress, outcomes, and impact, ensuring timely reporting and strong relationship building with award holders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with various stakeholders to deliver research funding calls, assemble documentation, and coordinate timelines.
  • Grant Applications: Coordinate applications for welfare grants through the trustee assessment and approval process.
  • Financial Management: Monitor expenditure on awarded grants versus planned budgets, ensuring that projects adhere to our financial policies.
  • Impact Assessment: Capture and monitor outputs, outcomes, and impact resulting from the grants portfolios, liaising with the marketing and communications team regarding potential case studies and press releases.
  • Research Strategy: Lead reviews of our research strategy and support the development of processes, systems, and software used to manage grant activities.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records, including drafting operational guidelines and procedures.
  • Meetings and Events: Attend and support the delivery of scientific meetings.
  • Partnerships and Collaborations: Manage and grow our relationships with partners, including research grant co-funders, and identify new collaboration opportunities.
  • Team Leadership: Act as lead contact for external organizations and line manage the research grants and trust officers, providing support and identifying opportunities for their professional development.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Experience working within a similar role within the not-for-profit sector.
  • Project Management: Previous project management experience.
  • Stakeholder Management: Experience working with a large number of stakeholders, managing conflicting needs.
  • Communication: The ability to effectively communicate complex research messages to a varied audience.
  • Research Understanding: Experience understanding and communicating research and scientific concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Workload Management: The ability to independently manage a varied and complex workload.
  • Standards and Best Practices: Confidence in creating and introducing standards for best practice in research management.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • IT Skills: Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office packages.
