Nuclear Safety Fire Evaluator

Position Overview:
The Nuclear Fire Assessor plays a critical role in enhancing our nuclear fire safety assessment capabilities and supporting various programs and projects within Amentum's UK operations.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Nuclear Fire Assessor, your primary duties will include:
- Providing support to program and project radiation transport leads as needed.
- Assisting in the development of capabilities and strategies for resource management, recruitment, and competence.
- Implementing and monitoring management and technical arrangements specific to Amentum and project requirements.
- Coordinating assessment and analysis efforts for projects, collaborating with engineering, project management, and document management teams.
- Advising leadership and clients on compliance with regulatory standards and guidance.
- Supporting safety case assurance throughout project and corporate requirements.
- Facilitating interactions with regulators and safety committees on behalf of clients.
- Contributing to business development initiatives as necessary.
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
- A degree or equivalent education.
- Demonstrated experience in nuclear fire safety assessment, including conventional fire safety management.
- Experience applying codes and assessments across various operations and fault scenarios.
- Experience with multiple UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organizations.
- Knowledge of conventional fire safety assessment methodologies.
- Experience in managing personnel and contractors.
- Familiarity with nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools.
- A solid understanding of UK nuclear site licensing and safety assessment principles.
- Knowledge of regulatory permissioning processes.
- The ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance and a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting.
- Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally overseas.
- Strong supervisory skills and excellent oral and written communication abilities, including report writing and presentations.
- Proficiency in MS applications and strong organizational skills.
Additional qualifications that would be advantageous include:
- Experience with safety cases in civil reactors and the defense sector.
- Familiarity with UK nuclear new build projects.
- Experience in international nuclear safety assessments and project management.
- Stakeholder management experience and the ability to mentor others.
