Role Overview: We are seeking a Nuclear Safety Specialist to play a pivotal role in the advancement of our nuclear safety initiatives. This position involves supporting the development of our nuclear power station and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the creation and upkeep of deterministic analysis programs to guarantee adherence to nuclear safety regulations.
- Assist in hazard identification studies and maintain comprehensive records.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to incorporate deterministic factors into design processes.
- Ensure that quality and governance standards are upheld in all deterministic analysis submissions.
- Work with various engineering disciplines to identify and rectify any compliance gaps in design.
- Engage with other safety disciplines to conduct thorough safety evaluations.
- Present findings from deterministic analyses to support regulatory licensing efforts.
About the Role: You will be instrumental in supporting the development and maintenance of the deterministic analysis program, which is integral to our nuclear safety case delivery.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and facilitating hazard identification studies, producing records, and compiling identified hazards into a Hazard Log.
- Providing guidance to engineering teams to ensure deterministic considerations are factored into their design decisions.
- Applying the necessary quality and governance standards to deterministic analyses and related submissions.
- Collaborating with engineering disciplines to ensure designs meet deterministic analysis requirements and addressing any discrepancies.
- Working alongside other safety disciplines, including probabilistic safety assessment and hazard analysis.
- Conducting and presenting deterministic analyses to support licensing initiatives.
Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will possess:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field, or substantial relevant industry experience.
- The ability to work effectively within a cross-functional project team.
- Eligibility to obtain Security Clearance.
- Experience in utilizing deterministic analysis to inform the design of nuclear power facilities.
- Knowledge of Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) design and operations.
- Experience in producing documentation related to deterministic analysis, including hazard identification and safety categorization.
