Senior/Principal Nuclear Safety Consultant

We are on the lookout for enthusiastic and experienced Nuclear Safety Consultants with at least 5 years of expertise to enhance our team. The successful candidates will contribute to significant projects within the nuclear sector both in the UK and globally.

  • Engagement in non-technical projects and other initiatives such as business development, industry networking, and training course development.
  • Opportunities to collaborate with other Risktec sectors like oil and gas, clean energy, transport, defense, and conventional power, as well as support Risktec offices worldwide.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Contributing to the development of major safety cases through the creation, verification, and management of Safety Case documentation, including:
    • Hazard identification and assessments, including HAZANs, and both deterministic and quantitative evaluations.
    • Radiological and conventional safety evaluations.
    • Conducting specialized assessments to bolster the Safety Case.
    • Formulating Safety Case strategies and key arguments.
    • Mentoring junior assessors in safety case documentation and assessment methodologies.
  • Overseeing project delivery in a consultancy setting from start to finish, including:
    • Managing contracts and drafting proposals for new initiatives.
    • Building and maintaining client relationships.
    • Resource management to ensure project completion within budgetary constraints.
Essential Qualifications:
  • A solid history of applying risk management principles and producing Safety Case documentation in the Nuclear sector.
  • A commitment to ensuring successful outcomes and ongoing client satisfaction through practical and effective solutions.
  • The capability to swiftly understand complex issues and apply knowledge to provide effective solutions within the context of nuclear operations and various stages of the plant lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in managing interactions with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Personal Attributes:
  • A collaborative team player who can also work independently when necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Robust analytical and logical reasoning skills are essential.
Due to the nature of the role, candidates must possess a suitable background to obtain UK security clearance.
