Role Overview - Senior Nuclear Criticality Assessment Specialist

We are in search of a highly qualified and experienced Senior Nuclear Criticality Assessment Specialist to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in assisting our clients in developing designs that ensure the safe operation of nuclear facilities while adhering to regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough nuclear criticality safety evaluations for various nuclear systems, facilities, and operations.
  • Assist clients in formulating and executing criticality safety programs, policies, and procedures in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform intricate calculations and analyses utilizing specialized nuclear criticality software and codes.
  • Assess and mitigate potential risks linked to nuclear criticality incidents through effective safety measures and controls.
  • Provide technical expertise and direction to multidisciplinary teams regarding criticality safety challenges and solutions.
  • Generate, review, and authorize criticality safety documentation, reports, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with clients, regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and external consultants on criticality safety issues.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline; advanced degrees (Masters or PhD) are preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience (7-10 years) in nuclear criticality assessment and safety within the nuclear sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of nuclear criticality codes (e.g., MCNP, SCALE) and proficiency in executing criticality calculations.
  • Strong comprehension of regulatory standards and requirements pertaining to nuclear criticality safety (e.g., ONR, IAEA).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a talent for evaluating complex technical challenges and devising effective solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of conveying technical information clearly and succinctly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Leadership experience in managing criticality safety projects and mentoring junior staff members.
