Supplier Quality Assurance Lead

As a key player in our organization, you will deliver essential quality assurance support for new product introductions within the supply chain. Your role will involve monitoring and reporting on suppliers' Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) programs. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining inspection plans for incoming components, reviewing and approving suppliers' Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Part Submission Warrant (PSW) submissions, while ensuring that all records of these approvals are meticulously kept.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the capabilities of both new and existing component suppliers to ensure they can produce defect-free components at the required volumes.
  • Coordinate the seamless launch of new products from the supply chain.
  • Enhance the performance of under-performing suppliers through collaborative improvement initiatives, aimed at minimizing the risk of production shortages and interruptions to sales volumes.
  • Timely review and approval of PPAPs, maintaining comprehensive records and updating departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Organize internal and external measurements and data analyses (both part and process) as necessary to validate PPAPs.
  • Develop and maintain inspection plans for incoming components.
  • Request and expedite supplier 8D reports for nonconforming components.
  • Lead root cause analysis with suppliers as needed, verifying the effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Act as a Supplier Development Engineer when necessary, collaborating with the Systems Team and selected suppliers to achieve the expected quality standards.
  • Ensure that parts and processes are developed using tools such as Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Measurement System Analysis, Value Stream Mapping, Control Plans, and work instructions.
  • Serve as the Quality representative within the supplier network through strong leadership, coaching, and fostering engagement.
  • Drive and influence both internal and external stakeholders to meet the company's Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering and/or a recognized qualification in Quality Management.
  • Qualified ISO 9001 auditor, preferably as a lead assessor.
  • Previous experience in Supplier Quality within automotive manufacturing or a related industry.
  • Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) and managing suppliers to meet quality requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Ability to lead, influence, and support teams with a positive approach.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Working knowledge of IATF 16949 and Core Tools.
  • Familiarity with quality tools and methodologies, including but not limited to Global 8D, Ishikawa diagrams, 5 Whys, and Pareto analysis.
  • Knowledgeable in metrology, inspection methods, and equipment, along with a working understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Able to accurately interpret 3D CAD and 2D drawings.
  • Experience with various manufacturing processes.
  • Capable of conducting robust statistical analyses.
  • Ability to present data clearly and effectively.
  • Skilled in planning and prioritizing activities, with the ability to operate autonomously.
  • Willingness to travel on short notice as required.
  • Possession of a full clean driving license.

Desirable Qualifications

  • IATF 16949 certification.
  • VDA 6.3 auditor certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
