Night Residential Care Practitioner (Level 2) - Springwood

At Norfolk County Council, we are dedicated to delivering exceptional, holistic residential support for children and adolescents aged 5-17, aiming for outstanding outcomes and enduring results. Our passion lies in providing innovative and ambitious opportunities for our young individuals. Our services are highly esteemed, and we take pride in our reputation for achieving the best outcomes for children and young people.

Springwood serves as a residential facility in Norwich, where we offer comprehensive care to young individuals with diverse needs, including those with diagnosed or undiagnosed learning disabilities, as well as emotional and behavioral challenges.

We are in search of enthusiastic, resilient, and optimistic team members who possess humor, determination, and empathy to assist children and young people in thriving and realizing their full potential. We seek experienced professionals capable of leading shifts and mentoring junior staff. Your life experiences, energy, personal strength, and positive mindset are highly valued.

Our team operates throughout the week, including weekends and holidays, which may involve unsociable hours, night shifts, and sleep-ins. This role primarily focuses on night shifts but also includes daytime responsibilities to facilitate training, development, and supervision opportunities.

Our practice approach within Norfolk is guided by the Children's Services practice vision 'Vital Signs for Children', enabling us to work as a cohesive system with a family-centered approach to assessment and intervention.

Utilizing a relationship-based methodology, we strive to cultivate consistent and trustworthy relationships with children and families. Our practice is strengths-oriented, emphasizing the identification and enhancement of family strengths to foster positive change. Through outcome-focused practices, we are committed to achieving the best results for children, young people, and their families.

Following a comprehensive induction and training program, your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Facilitating and providing meaningful daily activities for children and young people to develop their emotional and social skills through positive relationship building.
  • Enhancing young people's independence skills by developing personal and practical abilities.
  • Ensuring that the diverse communication needs of children and young people are met, actively ascertaining their views and wishes, and acting upon them where appropriate.
  • Documenting and reporting key aspects of care while advancing your professional skills as part of ongoing development.
  • Managing complex behaviors that may present challenges.
  • Depending on the needs of the child/young person, this may involve providing personal intimate care and/or nursing support to holistically assist children and young people.
  • Collaborating with families and other professionals to ensure optimal outcomes for children and young people.
  • Holding or being willing to pursue the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Child Care (funded).

In return, we offer you:

  • A supportive team that prioritizes your well-being and professional growth.
  • Generous annual leave entitlement, with the option to purchase up to two additional weeks of leave through our salary sacrifice scheme.
  • Maternity, paternity, and adoption pay, along with time off to support your family as it grows.
  • Assistance for those caring for elderly, disabled, or seriously ill relatives or friends.
  • Commitment to promoting the health, safety, and well-being of our social workers, including access to confidential counseling, fast-track physiotherapy, and NHS Health Checks for employees over 40.
  • NCC Pension scheme.
  • Meals provided during shifts.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
