Night Residential Children's Practitioner (Level 2) - Springwood
At Norfolk County Council, we are dedicated to delivering high-quality, comprehensive residential care for children and adolescents aged 5-17, striving for exceptional outcomes and enduring impacts. Our passion lies in providing innovative and ambitious opportunities for the youth we serve. Our services have earned a commendable reputation, and we take pride in our commitment to achieving the best results for children and young people.
Springwood operates as a residential facility in Norwich, catering to the holistic needs of young individuals, including those with learning disabilities (both diagnosed and undiagnosed) as well as emotional and behavioral challenges.
We seek enthusiastic, resilient, and compassionate team members who possess a sense of humor, determination, and empathy to empower children and young people to thrive and realize their full potential. We are looking for experienced professionals capable of leading shifts and mentoring junior staff. Your life experiences, energy, personal strength, and positive outlook are highly valued.
Our team works throughout the week, including weekends and holidays, which may involve unsociable hours, night shifts, and sleep-ins. While this role primarily focuses on night work, it also includes daytime responsibilities to facilitate training, development, and supervision opportunities.
Our practice approach at Norfolk is guided by the Children's Services practice vision 'Vital Signs for Children', allowing us to function as a cohesive system with a family-centered approach to assessment and intervention.
Utilizing a relationship-based methodology, we aim to cultivate consistent and trustworthy relationships with children and families. Our practice is strengths-oriented, focusing on identifying and enhancing family strengths to foster positive change. We are committed to outcome-focused practices to secure the best results for children, young people, and their families.
Following a comprehensive induction and training program, your responsibilities will encompass:
- Facilitating and delivering meaningful daily activities to support children and young people's emotional and social development through positive relationship-building.
- Enhancing young people's independence skills by developing personal and practical abilities.
- Ensuring diverse communication needs of children and young people are met, actively seeking their views and wishes, and taking appropriate action.
- Documenting and reporting key aspects of care while advancing your professional skills through ongoing development.
- Managing complex and potentially challenging behaviors.
- Depending on individual needs, providing personal intimate care and/or nursing support to comprehensively assist children and young people.
- Collaborating directly with families and other professionals to ensure optimal outcomes for children and young people.
- Holding or being willing to pursue the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Child Care (expenses covered).
In return, we offer you:
- A supportive team that prioritizes your well-being and professional growth.
- A generous annual leave policy, with the option to purchase up to two additional weeks of leave through our salary sacrifice scheme.
- Maternity, paternity, and adoption pay, along with time off to support your family’s growth.
- Access to an independently operated nursery within the Norfolk County Council grounds, offering priority placements for employees.
- Support for those caring for older, disabled, or seriously ill relatives or friends.
- Commitment to promoting the health, safety, and well-being of our social workers, including access to confidential counseling, fast-track physiotherapy, and NHS Health Checks for employees over 40.
- NCC Pension scheme.
- Meals provided during shifts.
- Cycle to work initiative.
