As a member of the Cheshire West and Chester Highways Operations team, the successful applicant will play a crucial role in ensuring the council meets its obligations to coordinate and assess all activities on the roadways in accordance with the permit framework, with the goal of minimizing disruption for the public. This position will involve providing expert guidance within the highways division while engaging daily with utility providers, contractors, elected officials, and community members.

An exciting position has opened for a Highways Operations Specialist to deliver technical, administrative, and financial assistance within the Highways Operations team, supporting the effective implementation of the Council's permit framework. As an integral part of the team, you will collaborate with a professional, responsive, and dedicated group engaged in various tasks, including evaluating permit requests from work promoters and for our own highway projects, coordinating activities, minimizing disruptions, issuing financial penalties, and addressing public inquiries.

This role will require you to utilize your expertise, judgment, and initiative while being supported by the broader team operating within the guidelines of all Permit legislation and NRSWA, ensuring that the Council fulfills its network management responsibilities and provides an efficient street works service.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Assessing permit applications in line with the permit framework, ensuring adherence to regulations and best practices.
  • Reviewing and interpreting traffic management schematics/layouts.
  • Evaluating, analyzing, and verifying incoming data, maintaining accurate records within the register.
  • Generating invoices related to the permit framework, including the assessment and issuance of fines and penalty notices.
  • Compiling reports for monitoring service delivery and financial oversight.

We seek a motivated team player with a keen eye for detail and strong communication skills to join our team of four.

A solid understanding of regulations and traffic management principles would be beneficial, although ongoing training will be provided.
