Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a Senior Clinical Psychologist to join our Crisis and Home Treatment teams.

You will collaborate with a team of professionals, including nurses, medical staff, and allied health experts, across our designated areas.

This role is expected to involve both direct and indirect engagement with clients referred to the crisis and home treatment team. You will be responsible for conducting and overseeing assessments, developing formulations, and providing brief interventions for individuals and their support systems.

The position will also include substantial responsibilities in consultation, reflective practice, staff support, team formulation, and training initiatives.

You will receive clinical supervision from the consultant clinical psychologist within the urgent care pathway, along with managerial oversight from the team manager. Regular pathway psychology meetings and bi-monthly regional psychology gatherings will be part of your routine, involving collaboration with adult mental health, children and young people teams, and specialized service psychologists.

This role will maintain strong connections with other psychology professionals within the urgent care pathway, which includes inpatient services, crisis/home treatment, and liaison mental health. Our team comprises practitioner psychologists, trainee associate psychologists, and assistant psychologists, with potential for further growth. We also have established partnerships for trainee placements with relevant doctoral programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert psychological assessments and comprehensive reports, both written and verbal, to referrers dealing with a diverse range of psychological issues, adhering to professional ethical standards.
  • Post-assessment, provide high-quality formulation and psychological therapy to clients experiencing various mental health challenges.
  • Develop and implement strategies for formal psychological interventions and/or management of clients' psychological difficulties, based on a suitable conceptual framework and utilizing effective methods across all care settings.
  • Engage with the multidisciplinary team through joint assessments, shared formulations, and collaborative interventions.
  • Provide clinical supervision and educational support to the multidisciplinary team, along with staff assistance and reflective practice as needed. Opportunities to supervise assistant psychologists will also be available.
  • Facilitate individual psychology sessions and potential group sessions, reflective practice, and debriefs, in accordance with organizational protocols.
