Position Overview

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is excited to present an opportunity for a dedicated Clinical Physiotherapy Specialist. The position encompasses rotations at two key hospital sites, offering a diverse range of experiences in various clinical areas.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will deliver physiotherapy services to patients in an acute care environment, focusing on maximizing patient independence and preventing deterioration.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Conducting assessments, diagnosing, and managing a complex caseload autonomously, adhering to professional standards and regulations.
  • Engaging in continuous professional development to enhance personal and service capabilities.
  • Leading or participating in initiatives aimed at service enhancement.
  • Providing mentorship and educational opportunities for junior staff and students, while recognizing and celebrating team achievements.
  • Participating in the respiratory physiotherapy on-call schedule.
  • Collaborating closely with colleagues across various care groups to ensure a patient-centered service that maintains high standards of care and efficient patient flow.
  • Working alongside team leaders and senior therapists to provide comprehensive training, supervision, and performance evaluations for team members.
  • Serving as a specialist resource within the Therapy Centre and the broader healthcare network.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Physiotherapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience in a variety of physiotherapy specializations at a junior or Band 5 level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Experience in assessing and treating acute respiratory patients within an NHS context.
  • Evidence of effective teamwork and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

  • Leadership training and experience in mentoring junior staff.
  • Experience in service improvement initiatives and audit.
  • Previous involvement in research or NHS appraisal processes.
