Position Overview
Mental Health and Well-being Services Ltd. (MHWS) is committed to enhancing mental wellness and supporting individuals in their journey towards better mental health.
As we expand our services, we are seeking to appoint a Clinical ADHD Specialist. In this role, you will operate both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team in the NHS Commissioned Adult ADHD service, providing expert clinical evaluations and interventions for adults with ADHD and their families.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments for adults suspected of having ADHD.
- Reassessing individuals previously diagnosed with ADHD to identify any co-existing conditions.
- Providing follow-up appointments for ADHD medication, monitoring treatment responses, and assessing side effects.
- Prescribing and adjusting medication as necessary within your professional scope.
- Performing thorough assessments that consider the impact of ADHD and any co-occurring conditions, including risk evaluations.
- Offering post-diagnostic advice, psychoeducation, and support to clients and their families.
- Completing necessary physical observations of clients as part of the treatment protocol.
- Building trusting therapeutic relationships with clients and their families to facilitate open communication regarding sensitive information.
- Maintaining accurate and timely clinical records on Trust electronic systems, including assessments, care plans, and progress notes.
- Collaborating with the wider team to recommend additional assessments or interventions as needed.
- Creating individualized management plans for each client.
- Encouraging client and family involvement in the care process.
- Working within a multidisciplinary team to ensure effective care plans for complex cases.
- Recognizing and responding appropriately to urgent situations, including risk management.
- Developing and implementing non-pharmacological interventions for adult ADHD.
Care Delivery
You will be responsible for ensuring high standards of care delivery across the service. This includes:
- Maintaining professional relationships with external professionals and service users.
- Analyzing complex situations to inform evidence-based care options.
- Making informed judgments to enhance treatment outcomes and minimize risks.
- Designing interventions that align with clinical policies and procedures.
- Delivering services in a respectful manner that acknowledges the diversity of our community.
- Providing expert advice to colleagues and external agencies regarding client needs.
- Reviewing and discharging clients under shared care protocols as appropriate.
- Collecting and inputting data related to service performance and outcomes.
- Participating in team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
Record Keeping and Communication
You will manage sensitive information regarding client diagnoses and ensure effective communication with all stakeholders. Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining accurate clinical records and communication regarding patient care.
- Ensuring high-quality data management across all systems.
- Transferring information related to patient care as required by operational policies.
Leadership and Development
In this role, you will also focus on professional development and team leadership by:
- Applying current knowledge to ensure evidence-based care options.
- Conducting appraisals and supporting team development.
- Facilitating training sessions and workshops.
- Engaging in continuous professional development.
- Aligning team goals with the wider organizational objectives.
- Conducting clinical audits and research as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Qualifications:
- GMC registered Doctor
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., MBChB, MBChC, MBBS)
Desirable Qualifications:
- Master’s qualification (e.g., MRCPsych)
- Management or Leadership qualification
- Teaching Qualification
Essential Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years post-qualification clinical experience
- At least six months of experience in psychiatry
- Supervisory skills in caseload management and clinical supervision
- Experience in multi-professional and multi-agency collaboration
- Experience in appraising junior staff or peers
Desirable Experience:
- Experience in adult ADHD
