Position Overview

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a Child and Family Psychology Assistant who is dedicated to supporting children, adolescents, and families within healthcare environments.

The Pediatric Psychological Services team offers specialized psychological support within various medical units and collaborates closely with community health services. You will become part of a well-established and expanding team, working alongside experienced Clinical Psychologists to enhance the provision of high-quality psychological care.

We seek a motivated, thoughtful, and innovative Child and Family Psychology Assistant with a background in working with young individuals and a strong commitment to improving health outcomes for those with physical health challenges.

Key Responsibilities

This role involves contributing to and enhancing psychological services across all facets of the organization.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage in:

  • Direct clinical engagement under the guidance of qualified Clinical Psychologists across various medical teams.
  • Conducting psychological assessments and interventions.
  • Facilitating individual and group sessions with children and families.
  • Analyzing and reporting on outcome measurement data.
  • Participating in patient engagement initiatives.
  • Creating clinical, educational, and training materials.
  • Conducting audits and service evaluation projects.
  • Utilizing digital technology to enhance service delivery.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential Requirements

  • Accredited honors degree in psychology.
  • Evidence of postgraduate professional development relevant to child psychology.
  • Eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS).

Knowledge and Skills

Essential Requirements

  • Proficiency in utilizing various software applications.
  • Strong understanding of developmental psychology.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage in emotionally charged environments.
  • Capability to convey sensitive information to patients, caregivers, and colleagues effectively.

Experience

  • Experience working with children and families.
  • Experience in producing clinical materials and resources.
