Position Overview

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a proactive Business Events and Convention Coordinator to enhance the city’s profile as a top-tier destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE). This role is crucial in supporting senior staff and driving the acquisition of new business events, thereby contributing to the city's economic growth and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:


Reporting and Documentation: Conduct daily and weekly updates on activities and inquiries, prepare and distribute meeting minutes, and manage event invitations and RSVPs.


Client Interaction: Serve as the primary contact for inquiries regarding city promotion, oversee the group inbox, and coordinate timely responses.


Event Coordination: Organize city tours and familiarization trips for prospective clients, including arranging travel and accommodation, while utilizing member discounts.


Proposal Management: Manage inquiries from associations, corporations, and incentive groups, preparing Requests For Proposals (RFPs) and developing detailed bid documents.


Promotion and Coordination: Assist in the promotion and organization of Ambassador events, maintain updated knowledge of member venues and services, and ensure the CRM system is current.


Content Management: Oversee social media content and engage with relevant materials to effectively promote Edinburgh.


Statistics and Reporting: Compile annual statistics on International Association events and submit findings for ranking purposes.


Event Participation: Attend relevant business events, conferences, and exhibitions, as well as member showcases and venue openings.


Administrative Support: Carry out various administrative tasks to ensure smooth service operations.
