Position Overview

The City of Edinburgh Council is looking for a proactive Business Events and Convention Specialist to enhance the city’s profile as a leading destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE). This role is essential in assisting senior staff and attracting new business events, thereby boosting the city’s economic and social landscape.

Key Responsibilities:


Reporting and Documentation: Prepare daily and weekly reports on activities and inquiries, document and distribute meeting minutes, and manage event invitations and RSVPs.


Client Interaction: Serve as the primary contact for inquiries regarding city promotion, oversee the group inbox, and coordinate responses effectively.


Event Coordination: Organize city tours and familiarization trips for prospective clients, including travel and accommodation arrangements, while utilizing member discounts.


Proposal Management: Manage inquiries from associations, corporations, and incentive groups, prepare Requests For Proposals (RFPs), and develop comprehensive bid documents.


Promotion and Coordination: Assist in the promotion and coordination of Ambassador events, maintain up-to-date knowledge of member venues and services, and ensure the CRM system is current.


Content Management: Support social media content creation and engage with relevant materials to promote the city.


Statistics and Reporting: Collect and compile annual statistics on International Association events for submission to relevant ranking organizations.


Event Participation: Attend pertinent business events, conferences, and exhibitions, as well as member showcases and venue launches.


Administrative Support: Execute various administrative tasks to ensure smooth service operations.
