**Job Title:** Senior Network Engineer

**Job Summary:** Net Consulting Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network communications solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement network-based solutions for customers, ensuring robust and secure communication networks.
  • Undertake technical requirements gathering and investigation of technical options for customer requirements, providing expert advice on network design and configuration.
  • Support pre-sales proposal creation activities by producing technical content tailored to customer information requests, highlighting the benefits of our network solutions.
  • Assist the operations team with complex network-related managed services escalations, ensuring seamless service delivery.
  • Assist in enhancing Net Consulting Ltd's secure communications service portfolio, identifying opportunities for growth and development.
  • Carry out technical peer review to support quality assurance of deliverables, ensuring high-quality work products.
  • Maintain skills and relevant certifications, staying up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Support recruitment of technical roles by devising technical tests and determining a candidate's level of knowledge in the secure communications field.
  • Liaise with relevant technology vendors to manage support cases or understand product updates/roadmaps, ensuring optimal solution delivery.

Requirements:

  • A strong drive to help customers achieve their goal of providing robust, secure network communications for their staff.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to build customer rapport and convey difficult technical concepts to senior staff, ensuring effective communication.
  • Academic record to degree level, or equivalent industry experience, with a strong understanding of network design principles and technologies.
  • Willingness to share information with peers and junior team members, promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Customer-focused attitude, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality service.
  • Self-starter able to research and experiment to find solutions with minimal guidance, with a strong problem-solving mindset.
  • Strong Enterprise-level technical skills and experience in some of the following technology areas:
    • Device configuration (e.g., Juniper/Palo Alto/Cisco/HP)
    • Network design principles (e.g., routing/VLANs/firewalls/leaf-spine)
    • Managed Wi-Fi deployment and configuration (e.g., Juniper MIST/Meraki/Aruba)
    • Firewall devices (e.g., Juniper SRX/Palo Alto/Cisco/Fortinet/Checkpoint)
    • Routing and resiliency (e.g., VXLAN/MPLS/VRRP)
    • Appreciation of SASE/SD-WAN technologies (e.g., Palo Alto Prisma Access/Prisma/Zscaler/Cato)
    • Patching (e.g., firmware updates)
    • Load Balancers (e.g., F5/Brocade)
    • Device management tooling (e.g., CiscoWorks/SolarWinds/OpenView)
    • Network connectivity troubleshooting
    • Strong understanding of IP addressing
    • Some experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell/Python/SQL)
    • Some experience of API usage to configure and report on systems
