Position Overview

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is pleased to present a remarkable opportunity to become a part of our innovative Physiotherapy team. We are seeking an Advanced Physiotherapy Specialist to take on a pivotal role in delivering clinical guidance within our Acute Neuro-Sciences unit.

As a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, the successful applicant will have the chance to deliver exceptional physiotherapy services to patients with a wide range of complex physical conditions. Our facility serves as the regional hub for South Wales, offering a diverse patient caseload that includes individuals with conditions such as Traumatic Brain Injury, Neuro-oncology, Neurovascular issues, Guillain Barre Syndrome, and Multiple Sclerosis. We are in search of a proactive and enthusiastic Physiotherapist who can provide impactful therapy interventions and exhibit strong leadership capabilities, excellent communication skills, and adaptability in high-pressure situations.

The Physiotherapy Department offers a thorough induction process, an extensive in-service training program, regular performance evaluations, and numerous opportunities for professional growth.

Flexibility in working hours may be required to accommodate the varying needs of the service.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will manage a clinical caseload, performing specialized physiotherapy tasks primarily within their area of expertise. Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering educational sessions and specialized training.
  • Operationally overseeing a team and providing expert consultation in their clinical domain.
  • Functioning as an independent practitioner.
  • Executing specialized clinical physiotherapy tasks.
  • Serving as a resource for other Physiotherapists and multi-disciplinary team members in this specialized area.

Proficiency in Welsh is preferred for this position; however, applications from both English and Welsh speakers are encouraged.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant qualification in Physiotherapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Completion of specialist training or courses to Postgraduate Diploma level.
  • Evidence of Master’s level learning or equivalent higher-level qualification and experience.

Desirable

  • Membership in the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
  • Master’s level qualification or equivalent.

Experience

  • Extensive post-registration clinical experience in a senior physiotherapy role within the specialist area of Acute Neuro-Surgery and Neurology.
  • Experience in providing clinical supervision.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership and involvement in service planning and development.
  • Experience in change management.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable
