Position Overview

We are pleased to present a unique opportunity to join the Live Well Service, aimed at enhancing our out-patient Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) services in alignment with the esteemed CAVUHB Therapies Rehabilitation framework.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong drive and enthusiasm for developing innovative clinical pathways that prioritize person-centered and value-driven care. This role requires an individual who is an inventive thinker, capable of leading new initiatives, working independently as well as collaboratively within a team, and demonstrating proficiency in data collection and analysis.

Candidates should have a solid foundation in clinical knowledge pertaining to Voice disorders, Respiratory conditions (including COPD and chronic cough), Stammering, Stroke, and Functional Neurological Disorders (FND). In return, we offer a collaborative environment with our therapy colleagues, robust clinical and professional support, and opportunities for engaging with service users in a co-productive manner.

This position will benefit from the guidance of our experienced management and leadership team within SLT and the broader therapies' directorate, making it an excellent opportunity for a seasoned Band 6 professional seeking to advance into a more senior clinical and leadership capacity.

Our team is committed to upholding the health board's core values of kindness, respect, trust, integrity, and personal accountability, and we welcome applicants who can exemplify these principles.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be tasked with integrating the SLT Out-patient service with the Therapies 'Live Well Service', designed to address the needs of individuals with long-term health conditions. Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing specialized clinical input for this demographic, encompassing individual and group therapy sessions, as well as consultations with other professionals.
  • Collaborating effectively with the multidisciplinary team and relevant voluntary organizations to facilitate the development, planning, and execution of intervention programs and training within the specialist clinical domain.

Proficiency in the Welsh language is preferred for this role; however, applications from both Welsh and English speakers are encouraged.
