Position Overview

Are you eager to enhance your clinical expertise within diverse healthcare settings? We are seeking a motivated Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) who is dedicated to providing high-quality, integrated, patient-focused care to join our Acute team.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to be part of our innovative Acute Adult Speech and Language Therapy team, which operates across multiple hospital facilities. This rotational position will enable you to gain experience and develop your skills in various areas, including Acute Medicine and Neuroscience, encompassing Major Trauma, Neuro Oncology, Neurosurgery, and Acute Stroke. The role will also involve weekend responsibilities on the Acute Stroke ward.

You will benefit from exceptional leadership and mentorship from our acute Speech Therapy team, ensuring ample opportunities for professional growth and career advancement.

While a postgraduate dysphagia qualification is required, we are open to considering experienced Band 5 or Band 6 candidates who are working towards these competencies. If you are interested in this position, we encourage you to reach out for further discussion.

Main Responsibilities

We are looking for a qualified SLT with relevant experience to join our acute SLT team. The ideal candidate will have a background in addressing a variety of communication and swallowing challenges, be an effective team collaborator, and possess strong organizational skills. We seek an enthusiastic and resilient individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including other healthcare professionals, is essential to promote the development, planning, and execution of intervention programs and training within the specialized clinical area.

The Acute Adult SLT service is known for its innovative and supportive atmosphere, with Clinical Lead SLTs offering robust guidance and supervision. Participation in service improvement projects and audits is highly encouraged.

Proficiency in Welsh is desirable for this role; applications from both Welsh and English speakers are welcomed.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Speech & Language Therapy
  • HCPC Registration

Desirable

  • Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • Evidence of specialist postgraduate CPD relevant to the clinical area
  • Completion of NQP
  • Postgraduate dysphagia qualification at RCSLT level C

Experience

Essential

  • Postgraduate experience in managing a variety of acquired swallowing and communication disorders

Desirable

  • Experience in stroke management
