Position:
Communication and Language Support Specialist

Salary:
£12.00 per hour for 25 hours per week (£12,000 per annum based on a 40-week contract)

Location:
Working in Summergil (Presteigne)

You will play a crucial role in addressing their communication, emotional, and social needs by developing and executing interventions that empower them to express themselves effectively.

You will work closely with our clinical team to implement and modify communication support programs. Proficient IT skills are essential, as maintaining accurate case notes and regular reporting is vital for success in this position. This role may involve providing support across various educational settings in the region.

A Day in the Life of a Communication and Language Support Specialist with Orbis Education and Care Includes:

Building Relationships:
Fostering strong, positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Communication Assessment:


Compassionately collaborating with individuals to evaluate and monitor communication skills, alongside the Speech and Language Therapist, while assisting staff in enhancing their skills, confidence, and knowledge.


Support Plans:
Supporting operational teams in conducting communication assessments and developing tailored support plans.

Quality Assurance:


Ensuring the execution of communication strategies across all environments as part of the clinical strategy plan led by the Head of Clinical Services.


Record Keeping:
Maintaining current records of meetings and support in compliance with GDPR.

Professional Development:
Pursuing and successfully completing relevant qualifications in Communication and Language Support, with the guidance of a mentor.

To be a Successful Communication and Language Support Specialist with Orbis Education and Care, You Will Need:

Holistic Assessment Skills:
Capability to conduct holistic assessments as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Experience:


Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism, along with associated complex needs and behaviors of concern within a residential or educational context.


Communication Skills:
Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.

Communication Proficiency:
Familiarity with various communication tools (e.g., PECS, Makaton, TEACCH).

SLT Knowledge:
Understanding of Speech and Language Therapy principles and practices.

Educational Commitment:
Willingness to pursue relevant qualifications in Speech and Language Therapy.
