About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmic Imaging Assistant to join our team at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust FT. As a key member of our theatres team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver specialized clinical diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring the highest possible standards and reproducibility.
  • Accurately enter patient data into imaging platforms, ensuring images are captured for the correct patient.
  • Collaborate with specialist ophthalmic consultants, optometrists, and nursing staff to ensure accurate diagnosis and care pathways.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of eye anatomy and physiology, as well as ophthalmic conditions, to provide accurate imaging representation.
  • Conduct visual field testing and assessment of patients' ability to pass the DVLA requirement for visual fields and visual acuity.
Person Specification
  • Proficiency in imaging patients' retina, optic discs, and corneas using Optical Coherence Tomography, Retinal Fundal Photography, and other ophthalmic imaging equipment.
  • Ability to study for further qualifications in ophthalmic imaging/measurements and related work.
  • Demonstrated awareness of NHS policies and procedures.
