Position Overview:

As a Culinary Operations Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in delivering a professional and customer-focused catering service. This position involves overseeing various responsibilities, including food procurement, preparation, service, storage, and administrative tasks, all contributing to the efficient operation of a large-scale catering environment. Your expertise will ensure that all activities comply with current standards, regulations, and legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional food services within an educational setting, including the planning, preparation, presentation, and serving of meals according to established menus and recipes for diverse occasions.
  • Utilize appropriate service techniques, supervising food service duties to ensure accurate portioning and accountability.
  • Provide detailed information regarding menu items, including preparation methods, primary ingredients, and allergen information.
  • Collaborate with management and school personnel to design menus that honor cultural and religious celebrations, enhancing service appeal to students and the broader community.
  • Accurately manage all operational and kitchen-related administrative tasks, including cash handling, staff attendance, performance data, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure safe handling and storage of food supplies, conducting regular checks to adhere to health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and designated areas, following established cleaning protocols.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and participate in relevant training sessions.
  • Supervise a team of up to 10 kitchen staff, overseeing attendance, development, and daily welfare.
  • Encourage teamwork and foster an environment that promotes innovation and staff potential.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Possession of a relevant qualification in Hospitality & Catering, Food Safety, or Food Preparation & Service is highly desirable.
  • Ability to cultivate positive working relationships within the catering team and with service users, emphasizing the importance of teamwork.
  • Commitment to delivering excellent customer service and promoting accessibility.
  • Willingness to challenge existing practices for continuous improvement.
  • Adherence to relevant policies and legislation applicable to the role.
  • Understanding of food safety standards and regulations.

Working Conditions:

  • Work schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday (Term time only).
  • Location: Assigned to a designated site.
  • Note: An enhanced DBS check will be necessary for this position.
