Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional food services within the educational environment, including the planning, preparation, presentation, and serving of meals in accordance with approved menus and recipes for various occasions.
  • Utilize appropriate service techniques, overseeing food service duties to ensure proper portioning and accountability.
  • Offer detailed information regarding menu items, including preparation methods, main ingredients, and allergen considerations.
  • Collaborate with management and school personnel to design menus that honor religious and cultural celebrations, and implement initiatives to enhance service appeal to students and the broader school community.
  • Accurately manage all necessary operational and kitchen administration tasks, including cash handling, staff attendance, performance data, risk assessments, and inventory management.
  • Ensure the safe handling and storage of food supplies, conducting regular checks to adhere to service-related regulations and standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and designated areas, following established cleaning protocols.
  • Commit to personal and professional development by participating in relevant training and development opportunities.
  • Supervise a team of up to 10 kitchen staff, overseeing attendance, development, and daily welfare.
  • Encourage teamwork and innovation among staff to enhance performance and service quality.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Possession of a qualification in Hospitality & Catering, Food Safety, or Food Preparation & Service is highly desirable.
  • Ability to foster positive, effective working relationships within catering services and with service users.
  • Commitment to excellent customer service and the promotion of equitable service access.
  • Willingness to challenge existing practices for continuous improvement.
  • Adherence to relevant policies, procedures, and legislation applicable to the role.
  • Understanding of Safer Food for Business standards and other relevant regulations.

Working Conditions:

  • Working hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday (Term time only).
  • Location: Assigned to a site as required.
  • Note: An enhanced DBS check will be necessary for this position.
