Occupational Therapist - Mental Health

Merco Medical Staffing Limited is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team at a leading hospital in Birmingham. This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of patients receiving inpatient care for a range of mental health conditions.

About the Role:

As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting patients' recovery and well-being by helping them engage in meaningful activities that promote independence and improve their quality of life. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to assess patients' needs, develop individualized treatment plans, and deliver therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' occupational performance and identify areas for intervention.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address patients' specific goals and challenges.
  • Provide one-on-one therapy sessions and lead group activities to promote functional skills, self-care, and social engagement.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care and coordinate discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records and documentation.

Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree in Occupational Therapy (MSc pre-registration or BSc).
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience working in a mental health setting, preferably within an inpatient environment.
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based practice.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
